What our runners have to say

Rachel

I joined the running group to help my friend, Dani who had organised it. I hated running so much I didn't think I would go for more than a few weeks. I have a t shirt that says "I hate running" on it but I still go; it's now part of my week and it's so much more than just a run, it's seeing friends and socialising. I do actually enjoy it now. So now I don't wear my "I hate running" t shirt as much !

"I started running with Let's Run Girls Cambridge about 6 weeks back and I haven't looked back since. My first run was with Danielle and I really thought I wouldn't be able to do it but with a lot of encouragement I did it I felt really good. The group is amazing as they are all so helpful and encouraging. I'm doing my first 5k on Sunday and that wouldn't have been possible without the group. Once a week I get out of my house which is a huge thing to me to run and it's an amazing feeling"

"I loved the idea of joining a ladies only running group, which would allow me to start running with people who were at the same ability as me. I am so glad I made the decision to go that night, and I have been to every session since! It is a lovely, friendly, supportive bunch of ladies who just like to go out and run together. You never notice the miles you are putting in as you are busy chatting and laughing your way along. Thank you Dani, you are an inspiration...and my running buddy guru!!!!"

I joined the group last autumn as an older member relatively new to running. Before long some of us signed up for the Cambridge Half Marathon, something I never dreamed possible! We trained together, encouraging  each other every step of the way. As for the circuits sessions, they are always fun with something different and challenging each session. There is something for everyone, I even tried boxing for the first time in my life! There is a mix of all ages and abilities, I came on my own but now really feel a big part of this lovely group. We train hard together often finishing with a coffee and chat. I can not recommend joining this friendly group strongly enough, great for all ages, sizes and abilities there is a running group for you!

"Let's Run Girls is a fantastically supportive and friendly running group. I joined last September having become increasingly sedentary and unfit. I worked up to being able to comfortably run 5K over a few months and was then inspired by others in the group to sign up for the Cambridge Half Marathon in March which I completed and now consider a life achievement. Encouraged by Dani I am now a run leader and love giving back to the group and supporting others to achieve what they might not have thought possible."

"I joined the Let's Girls Run group 6 months ago after a friend passed on the details to me. I have never been part of an exercise group before and have loved every minute. I enjoy the circuits on a Saturday because no two weeks are the same. Not only has it motivated me to schedule my own HIIT training at home but I have made some really good friends as well. I've lost a tonne of weight since joining too!"
